Summary:
To Perform advanced welding techniques such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), and stick welding (not as relevant for our build / more so TIG&MIG) to join metals according to ASME codes and standards. Weld various materials including stainless steel (multiple types of stainless steel), carbon steel and alloys, ensuring high-quality welds that meet specifications.
Essential Duites and Resposibilites:
- TIG/MIG welding with strong fabrication-
- Finish grade polishing (dailry tanks)
- working 50hr/wk
- Must be able to read blueprint
- Little supervision
- Certification-Not mandatory, but MUST pass weld test
- Fabricate and assemble larger metal structures, components, and equipment according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Use advanced fabrication techniques such as cutting, bending, and forming metals to precise measurements and tolerances.
- Inspect and test welded joints and fabricated components to ensure they meet ASME standards and project requirements.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing (UT) and radiographic testing (RT) as required.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to plan and execute welding and fabrication projects.
- Participate in project meetings, provide technical expertise, and contribute to project planning and scheduling.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with ASME codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to welding, fabrication, and workplace safety.
- Maintain accurate records of welding activities, materials used, hours worked, and inspection results.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by supervisors, quality control, and regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency in ASME welding codes and standards, including ASME Section IX for welding qualifications.
- Advanced knowledge of welding processes such as TIG, MIG, stick welding, and oxy-acetylene cutting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to welding and fabrication.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various positions (standing, kneeling, bending), and withstand environmental conditions typical of welding and fabrication environments
- Work Environment: Typically works in fabrication shops, manufacturing facilities, ability to access and work in confined spaces or construction sites where welding and fabrication projects are being executed.
Certifications: Certification in ASME welding procedures and qualifications (e.g., ASME Section IX certification) is often required. Additional certifications in NDT methods (e.g., AWS CWI, NDT Level II) may be beneficial.
